Division of Psychoanalysis,
Creighton University Department of Psychiatry
Present a Course on
Interpretation
The course will be a series of directed readings of critical texts from the psychoanalytic literature on the theme of interpretation, with a discussion of their application in clinical practice and the implications of the psychoanalytic concept of interpretation broadly in other areas.
A special focus will be placed on Sigmund Freud’s foundational text, The Interpretation of Dreams, as well as on two critical texts of Jacques Lacan: “The Instance of the Letter in the Unconscious, or Reason since Freud” and “The Direction of the Treatment and the Principles of Its Power.”
No prior participation or familiarity with psychoanalysis is required, and the course is open to all. This course will be especially valuable for those interested in psychoanalytic clinical practice.
There is no fee, but registration is required—to register, contact Thomas Svolos at [email protected] or 402-551-4712.
Meetings will be on Friday, 11:00-12:30. The location is 6910 Pacific Street, Suite 315.
Our 2009 meetings will resume with a discussion of Chapter 6 of The Interpretation of Dreams.
